The Reserve Bank of India has asked all Indian Banks (Private & Govt.) not to charge customers for using any other banks ATM’s. I think earlier banks were charging around 20rupees for each transection. From April 2009 , This service has come in action all over India and now you can make balanace inquiries or withdraw cash for free.
RBI advised Banks not to charge anything for the following purposes :
- Using own bank’s ATM for any purpose
- Using other bank’s ATM for balance inquiry
- Using other bank’s ATM to withdraw money
