Microsoft’s New Search Engine “Bing”
-
Microsoft is re-launching its search engine, promising to make search simpler, and aiming to overhaul Yahoo.
Official Site : http://www.bing.com/
Re-named and re-branded Bing.com, the search engine will go live first in the US and launch in beta elsewhere. Google has more than 64% of the search market in the US, followed by Yahoo at 20% and Microsoft at 8.2%.
Bing offers to make search more relevant by understanding the intention of searches, and grouping more related information to the original query. For example, searches for a product will also bring links to reviews, accessories, and online shops, as well as information about the item. Searches for flight information will pull schedules and times from websites, as well as linking to hotels and weather. Microsoft’s aim is to reduce number of clicks done by user to get the information.
Microsoft is little behind in search engine compition I hope the new search engine bing will give them a push to compete with Yahoo and Google search.

One of the great feature of bing is auto compete feature, which is similar to Google, though being a blogger I would like to see some quality result from
Bing rather then people who game SEO and come at the the top of Google Search result. Lets hope for something new and useful this time from Microsoft

I totally know what you mean. I recently jumped back in to the webmaster game and things are so much different. People are more into SEO than trying to create a decent contents. People brag about their pagerank. Webmasters now have to kiss you-know-who just to get noticed. I wish that bing.com could change that a bit.

A new search engine bing from microsoft is a good effort.

Well, Cuil became a big joke within just a month or two of launching (Look up “Google business card” and then search for the “Cuil business card” parody, if you want to get the jokes).
I’m giving Bing exactly 13.7 minutes of fame… although I really wish someone could break Google’s monopoly.

I think this new search engine will take more market share from price comparison sites and review sites. It appears Microsoft have focused on comparing prices, reviewing products, and optimising searches when buying or reviewing a product.
For general help and searches i believe people will stick to Google for now.

I think that bing is much more advanced than google and if marketed properly it can give strong competition to google

Question to all of you will it be a successful search engine in near future?

I almost forgot? When is the exact date of launching?

I just watched the video about Bing on the Bing website. It actually looks like a very useful search engine. I think this can give Google a run for its money. Googles revenue is made from the sponsored ads. with Bing, microsoft is targeting searches where people want to buy something (not informational searches) which is exactly what brings in ad revenues. Good plan.

They should make it competitive so it can close the gap on the battle of search engines.

If Bing becomes one of the biggest search engines, webmasters are going to shift gears as to optimize for both Google and Bing.

Thanks for the article, but i don’t think microsoft can come with something to rule again.

Hmm, not too sure what I think about this. I think that Bing will be a decent success, but I also think it will be quite some time until this happens.

It seems war between google and microsoft will begin

As if Microsoft doesn’t have enough competition from Apple, it is now trying to gain some market share in the search engine realm. Google has been the start of the internet, and it is become a common term in everyone’s vocabulary. Microsoft will have a tough time, but hopefully this new search engine will give them the push they need.

Microscoft finally attacking google’s dome. Lets see if it succed.

Too slow — Text often doesn’t show up while typing because of their results as you type feature. Page loads take too long and I lost interest quckly. I read on a blog that image results were better than google, but found their method of loading image results painful and irritating, so I didn’t proceed.

I got a few visitors from Bing yesterday. Looks like Google Analytics still is counting the traffic as a referring URL and not from a search engine.

I guess MS should have come up with a better name than Bing. It sounds silly. It should be something that people can easily associate with search, like Find.com, Ask.com, etc. Anyway, what’s more important is its functionality. It’s still too early to tell if Bing can take on Google, but who knows?

I don’t see how it’s all that special, people will stick with the convenience of Google.

Nice informative up to date post, your post worth reading. Finally Microsoft took a step to reduce the effects of google manoply.

i do believe in power sharing and business sharing. in this case i may say that Microsoft is able to let go some of privilege that has been kept in the hands of google.
yet, bing has to work extra hard to really compete with google, as all of us know that google has already touched the sky with its search engine tech and its own algorithm.

I have been testing out bing as well and have found that it is MUCH more difficult to rate for your keyword within bing as opposed to google. I think that they may either have a much more strict search algorithm or put a lot more emphasis on age of the website. I am going to keep looking at bing, but I find that news hits google much faster because of this.
